Accepted

Once a Novice has passed her testing and come back to the Tower safely she is deemed ready to enter the ranks of Accepted. Now she wears the Great Serpent ring on the third finger of her left hand- a symbol of her connection with the Tower and a reminder that she is now tied to the Aes Sedai with no turning back. She now wears the Accepted white dress with seven bands of colour at hem and cuffs to represent the Ajahs.

Accepted Quarters

 Accepted Quarters -  Accepted Quarters  Accepted Quarters are considerably larger than the Novice rooms; while still plain, they are luxurious compared to Novice rooms (still NO roommates, guys!) The only commodities with which they are provided are;

  • A bed against one wall
  • A wardrobe for cloths
  • A shelf
  • Two ladder-back armchairs
  • Wash stand
  • Fireplace
  • Rug

An example of the layout of these quarters is to the left; this may differ slightly from room to room. The door is situated on the front wall in the centre and is NOT fitted with a lock.

Accepted Talents

In general Accepted will be beginning to discover their talents. So that authors may receive feedback from other members and the Admin a post should made on the OOC before writing a talent for the first time. Alternately a PM may be sent to the Admin in special circumstances.

Accepted Raising to Aes Sedai

To raise from Accepted to Aes Sedai the command of the one power, dedication and most importantly the outward serenity and control of the Accepted must be tested.

The Accepted must enter a spinning ring around which Aes Sedai, representing each Ajah, will weave illusions that serve as distractions and hostilities, which are often far from harmless. During this experience, the Accepted must perform, without ceasing, one hundred weaves, in order, whilst maintaining a sufficient degree of outward calm and, potentially, defending herself from harm.

Should she manage to complete the hundred weaves, the Accepted will certainly be badly injured. She is offered Healing and sent for a night of meditation. She is expected to remain awake throughout the night, despite her exhaustion in order to reflect on her new duties.

The Accepted is then brought to a ceremony with the Amyrlin Seat and representatives of all seven Ajahs where they must swear the "Three Oaths".

The Three Oaths

To bind all Aes Sedai to the cause of the Tower and to lend to their credibility, upon raising new Aes Sedai must swear three oaths.

  • To speak no word that is not true
  • To make no weapon for one man to kill another
  • Never to use the One Power as a weapon, except

    • against Shadowspawn and Darkfriends,
    • To save her own life, her Warder's, or the life of another sister

The oaths are sworn upon the "Oath Rod", a ter'angreal which binds any oaths made upon it, ensuring that the oaths cannot physically be broken by the person who sore them.

Whilst these oaths may not be explicitly broken, deceit and equivocation are possible; an Aes Sedai may intentionally place herself in danger in order to use the one power, or use misleading truths and choice facts to avoid lying without revealing her true intentions.

Accepted Specific Rules and Regulations

  • In Character, Accepted are not allowed to engage in romantic relationships; they are still looked upon by the Aes Sedai as children who are too young for impractical romantic flirtations. However, Out of Character we will not punish you for engaging your Accepted in a relationship with a Youngling, World of the Wheel Character or (at a stretch) a White Tower frequenting Black Tower member.
  • Accepted are allowed into Tar Valon by themselves, IC they must sign a register to say that they have left Tower grounds and have only two hours per week in which they may visit the city. They are not allowed to leave Tar Valon at all. Extreme caution is advised before considering this action.
  • Accepted may channel without supervision for the purposes of practice, however, they should not be seen teaching Novices without the prior permission of an Aes Sedai kept in writing.
