OOC: Well, I hope this was okay. What now for the apparantly terrible two?
Light, they were in trouble! It did not do to spy on the Mistress of Novices and under normal circumstances Tynan wouldn't dare even imagine it. Alaenya was a bad influence on her; Tynan blamed it on her roguish Aiel upbringing and the fact that the girl was almost seven years her junior. Of course, if she were truly honest with herself then she'd admit that she had every choice in the decisions that she made so really Alaenya wasn't to blame at all.
The two girls shuffled into Eleanor Sedai's office and stood solemnly before her desk. Tynan clasped her hands before her and cast her eyes to the floor in preparation for a good ear-bashing. But only silence followed and so the two girls waited awkwardly for their superior to speak. After a few moments the Mistress of Novices took a deep breath, it was a frustrated breath but a contemplative one too. “Girls, if this were any ordinary day, and it isn't, then I'd have you both acting out punishment for spying on a private conversation between myself and Accepted Ispen. I can't even begin to imagine why you could not have knocked and simply explained your tardiness. Instead of standing, ears pressed to the door like a couple of fools.”
Tynan ran a hand nervously through her dark hair pulling parts of it from its braid by mistake. Normally they would have been served a punishment and spared the lecture; Eleanor Sedai was usually far too busy for conversation with mischievous Accepted. Today, however, it would seem they would be spared the penalty and served with a lecture instead. Tynan could not decide which she preferred; change unsettled her and this was a dramatic change of character for the Mistress of Novices.
“Today's meeting was of great importance to every woman of the White Tower, Accepted. I am surprised and disappointed that both of you managed to miss it. It leads me to wondering what in the Light you could have been doing that was more important. Nevertheless, it has been done and I hope that you will learn from your mistake when I tell you what it is that you missed.”
Tarmon Gaidon. It had to be! The Last Battle was finally coming into fruition! Tynan groaned; she had not prepared herself for such terrible news. It took all of her strength to maintain the composure of a proper Aes Sedai as she waited in anticipation of the dreadful news that the Dark One and the Dragon Reborn himself were set to do battle. She would make a terrible Green Sister; war was not her forte.
“It has been reported, Accepted, that the male half of the One Power- saidin, has been cleansed.”
It seemed that her skills as a White were something to be desired also for her logic was a little confused. So, Tarmon Gaidon was not on their doorstep, she needn't worry. Of course, with the men of the Black Tower now able to channel without fear what did that mean for the women of the White Tower? Tynan scrunched her nose in thought, was it really of any importance to them that men were no longer subject to uncontrollable madness? She thought it best to keep her opinions to herself until they were allowed to leave Eleanor Sedai's office.
“Now I am afraid that due to your lateness you have been unable to take part in the question and answer time that took part at the end of the meeting, you will simply have to glean the answers to any questions that you may have from your friends and colleagues. Now, get out of my sight and if I catch either of you spying or hear that you have arrived late to anything else in future then there will be serious consequences. Do you understand?”
The two girls nodded gravely and swiftly exited the Mistress of Novices' office. As the door clicked closed behind them Tynan turned to Alaenya. “See what a mess you've gotten us into?” She laughed, “Now I shall have to intend to be on time for every lesson and chore scheduled this week. I'm never on time for anything. Light, I'm doomed to serve punishment until the day they raise me!”
